A little poll on The Facebook shows the majority wanted a Coromandel meet, so here we are.
Plan is to meet in Thames at Danby Field carpark at 10am Saturday 26th January:
Followed by a cruise (spirited, but please keep it legal as much as possible) round the peninsula to Coromandel town car park, where we can wander the town a little and have lunch:
Followed by another cruise to Hot Water Beach:
Where the plan is to be staying the night at Hot Water Beach top10 holiday park. Its $26 per person for an unpowered site (which ill be doing with a tent - youll need to bring your own unless you feel like paying for a small lodging).
The rest of the trip is up to yourself, whether you stay the night with the group, head over to the beach (particularly good when the tide is out and geothermal hot (!) water literally flows out of the sand), hang out and have some beers together, and cruise home the following day at your own pace.
The following Monday is a public holiday in the Northland/Auckland region if you wanted to hang around another day, or head home and enjoy a break before the return to reality.

fun-fact this is essentially the same set-up as the last Coromandel meet, except we hit a roadblock and had to turn around near the tip of the peninsula, and back-track aaaallll the way around and back up to hot water beach. good times.
