Hahaha. Now add to that the Mivec heads and it's an even worse fit. I'll end up having to extend the bonnet bump across to accommodate the intake pipe.

Got a WOF today. Every WOF is a victory.

just asked him, he put a galant/pajero reservoir on, which is centered instead of offset, giving you a bit more room.
bugger, got quite excited there haha

That's needed so it clears the mivec head / camgear cover.

Dude, tell me, what cable did you use for the cruise delete?

Looked into MR cable but no longer available from Mitsubishi I don't think

yeah, fortunately, the later GTOs didnt come with CC standard, so its not solely an MR thing, so you may actually be in luck getting a genuine one?
Mine came off my 97 NA manual. had abs and stuff, so wasnt what the yanks call SR or anything

whoops, got that wrong. apparently the only Z15s are either SR or MR

edit: cant find the diamante using the same part number on mitsi epc. must be same/very similar part, different number

You could always cut the flange off the 30m runners and weld the non mivec flange on and use the non mivec plenum chamber, not sure if the difference in port sizes will make much of a real world difference, a bit of sharp work with the die grinder should make for a nice transition. Same deal with the throttle body flange.

Throttle body on the LH side is just a bit of a prick all around really. You'll likely end up losing the IAC system too since there's just no room.

Or just get a custom plenum chamber made up....they're not all ugly.

This might be doable.

The MIVEC runner ports are shaped such that on the outer ports, the majority of the cross-section area is closer to the center. i.e. not losing much from blocking that outside bit.

(in other news, god damn those runners are filthy)

They're different runner spacing so it's a no go. Bigger wider runners on the 30M.

But anyway.......it's N/A?
Using 30M ECU?
So no AFM needed, just an air filter feeding a pipe to the throttle?

I totally forgot about that. I was assuming I'd need the AFM.

Maybe this is all something to figure out once I can see how the engine sits in the car. Plenty of work to do between now and then.

I've ordered the TT clutch, and have a TT flywheel to go with it. I'm pretty sure the 5-speed and 6-speed TT flywheels are the same?

Oh here's a question for box/Magn1t: Which "head set" (as in gasket set) shall I order? I nearly ordered the GTO one, since I definitely want the GTO head gaskets, but then I realised that the rest of the head is different. So do I need to order a 30M Diamante one and switch the head gaskets out for GTO ones? I somehow doubt that the rocker cover, spark plug, camshaft and valve stem seals are the same. I would just go check but again, I'm away on a job.

I just re used all my old gaskets.

The headgaskets are thinner.

It's a GTO block and pistons, so I need the thick head gasket. I'm considering this powertrain transplant the project to end all projects, so I'm not keen to pull it apart again to replace valve stem seals or something like that. Got other life priorities that are going to take up the slack in my income.

I'm using genuine GTO head gaskets and then just pieced the rest together as individual parts since there's really only a handful of gaskets that you need.

If you're doing a rebuild, I think you'd be better off to use the mivec pistons and mivec headgaskets.
That way you'll know for certain that there will be no piston to valve contact.
Using the N/A GTO pistons/ GTO headgaskets, you'll need to measure the piston to valve clearance with both the high and low cams.
Afterall.......there must be a good reason why Mitsubishi changed from domed pistons/ thick gasket to flat top pistons/thinner gasket but maintained the same CR.

Stem seals........that's what the yanks change when they've broken the pistons. They don't wear out, they just burn up when the headgasket leaks and it cooks. But anyway, you'd want to change them while it's in bits, they should be the same........the valve stems are the same diameter.
